Férias do Verão

The Municipal Historical Archive of Albufeira, besides its attributions of organization and conservation of the archives and collections that are in its custody, defined as one of its priorities the development of activities that promote the dissemination of this archival collection. It seeks, therefore, to alert the community to the importance of the documentary heritage in the Municipality of Albufeira.



Educational service’s workshops:


THE OFFICE OF THE SCRIBE


Students will have the opportunity to get to know the materials used during several centuries to write, as well as to handle and use the ink pens to transcribe old documents such as the Charter-of-Rights of Albufeira.


THE MUNICIPAL FLAG OF ALBUFEIRA


This activity intends to show the evolution of the flag of Albufeira throughout the times. Students are expected to build the oldest flag in the municipality of Albufeira (16th century).


5TH OF OCTOBER OF 1910 – THE REPUBLICAN REVOLUTION


With this activity one gets to know the events that marked the main moments of the revolution. Students will build a shield with the different flags of Portugal over the centuries.


MY FAMILY TREE


To show what is and how to make a family tree, as well as to present the project of Genealogy of the Algarve, where the records of those who were born, married and died in the municipality of Albufeira between 1504 and 1908 can be found. Students will have to make their family tree.


THE EARTHQUAKE OF THE 1ST OF NOVEMBER OF 1755


Explanation of the events of the 1st of November of 1755 and the reconstruction of Albufeira using archival documents and video.
In this activity the students in groups will make paintings in order to reconstruct the events of the 1st of November.


LOCAL HISTORY


The educational service of the Historical Archive of Albufeira aims to show the most remarkable moments in the history of Albufeira from the year 1250 (Donation of Albufeira to the order of Avis) to the present day.
